Assalamualaikum and Olla everyone!

It is not a news anymore that we are facing a terrible haze situation now in Malaysia. Not just us, actually few other neighbouring countries were affected as well. This have been going on for more than a decade and to me it is almost like a yearly ritual. The only thing is that is getting worse each year.

Missing blue sky so badly. Cant help but to think about kids, pregnant ladies and old folks that have to breath in toxin and dust into their lungs. As a grown adult, I am also affected it have been days since I have blocked nose, fever, coughing you name it. In fact, my husband and baby is also affected. Since, it is out of our control and I have no idea why it is taking so long for authorities to fix this issue from the source. I decided to share some personal tips hoping that it will help others to face this issue. Below are 6 tips that I could think off at this moment, will try to update from time to time. Let’s start shall we?

1. Haze OUT you go!

The secret to have a better quality air at home is by making sure all windows and ventilations are closed. You can do this before going out to, so the moment you come back your house will have better air quality. Also not forgetting the small window in your toilet. If you are indoor and the API reading is high at your area, do wet some old towel and place it at the bottom of your door. This will act like a filter.

2. Purify your air

If you are one of the lucky people who own a purifier, ON it most of the time and clean the filter frequently. If you do not have one, don't worry just boil water and the steam will help to purify your home. However, do check on your boiling pot regularly to avoid any mishap.

3. Wash and Wash

All the dust and toxin contacted with our skin so the best way is to wash your face regularly. For muslim, this is easier as we take Wudhu 5 times a day. Try to shower the first time when you arrived home. This is to avoid all the toxin to spread to other places. Avoid jumping to your bed right after outdoor activities or some of the toxin might stuck on your bed.

4. Drink more n more water

Haze particles travelled into our lungs and it force our kidneys to work harder, the best way to help our kidney perform the best id to drink more water. Hydrating is the key.

5. Increase your immunity

Prevention is better than cure, in order to ensure your body is at top performance and ready to combat all the issues do equipped our body with the best quality food. Try to eat as much vegetable and fruits so your body is filled with good vitamins. This will help you to stay healthy. You can try to put in super food like chia seed, black seed or honey. You can also cut some fresh oranges (one of the best source of vitamin C) and put in your water bottle to have an infused vitamin C water.

6. Haze Kit

It is a great idea to have a small bag that contain the necessity if you are going outdoor during haze. I would personally suggest to put in

a) face mask (N95 or your may also DIY the tips is it have to be thick)

b) eye goggles  (if you are working outdoor this would be useful)

c) eye drop (the haze could go into our eye and make it irritate)

d) water bottle (keep you hydrated on the go)

e) wet wipes

That’s about it so far. I hope you find this post helpful, do share it with your friends and family if you find it helpful. Take care and till next post.
