Assalamualaikum and Olla everyone!

Okay, here is a confession. I am not the calmest person expecially when things does not goes my way. I tend to over think which lead to unessesary stress. Juggling 2 job being a full time employee and also trying to maintain my blog does not make the situation easier. Now that I have 2 kids, go figure hahaha.. so how do I keep my sanity in check? Just like to share some simple tips that I personally tried to de-stress and also be calmer version of myself. Hopefully it somehow help you if you are struggling in those areas. Do bear in mind, I am not a professional therapist. I am not a certified person when it come to handling stress. What I am sharing below are based on my personal experience and my intention is to share it with you and hopefully you will find it helpful. Now after all that being said, let’s start shall we?

1) Catch yourself

You know our brain is designed to protect us. It is design to lead us to over thinking. Like for example you are thinking of doing something out of your comfort zone, you feel excited and happy at first. Then your brain get in action. It will lead you to weight the consquences and what not. Then it get escelated, you get scared and most likely stop pursuing what you want to do in the first place. So what you need to do in this situation? The moment you realise that you are over thinking, stop. Focus on why you think it is a good idea to do the think you want to do. At the end of the day you will never know if you never try.

2) Meditate

How I wish I know about this sooner! It have been a very rewarding, ever since I get into this whole meditation thing. Truth to be told, I have been struggling to sleep for many years. Again it is because of over thinking. Brain gets too active that it takes time to completely relax. Do you know that bombardment of thoughts in your mind which result in anxiety, stress and depression? This is where meditation come in very handy. As meditation helps to slow down and clear our mind. It allows us to give our brain a break it deserved. After trying out meditation, I noticed that I fall asleep easier. It makes me see things clearer and I felt rejuvenated full of energy everytime I woke up. Do give it a try. There are many guided meditation available for free on youtube. some of my favourite channel are PowerThoughts Meditation Club, Emily Fletcher and The Anxiety Guy.

3) Reward yourself with me time

Being a mom makes it more challenging for me to have me time. I always felt like I dont have anytime. The fact is, we all have time. We are all given 24 hours a day and rewarding ourself should be our top priority. It allows us to be less tense and function better. It does not have to be a 2 hour long in a spa. It can be a nice 10 mins extra time while taking shower. What I do, set a day. Let’s say wednesday. So, on every wednesday once my childrens fallen asleep I get into the bathroom to reward my self with a hair mask, a full body scrub and just take my sweet time enjoying my beauty ritual. Right after that I’ll wear my face mask. It could also be a quick pedicure at the nail parlour or a foot massage. By doing this, your mental health and happiness will greatly improved!

4) Eat Healthy Food

I LOVE SUGAR. Like seriously, I can have dessert all day long for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, I have made a pledge to eat sugary stuff very minimal nowadays. People do eat to feel better. There are many studies out there that shows an unhealthy diet high in sugar and fat may be linked to poor mental health. I noticed great difference in my mood whenever  I consume healthy food involving greens and fruits. You can try set a detox day and see how you feel on that particular day. Not only your body will thank you physically your mental health will improve too!

5) Decide

Decide that you want to live a happy and a calm life. Sometime people ask me do you ever feel sad or depress? Ofcause I feel tired, down and so on. But I dont stay there. (Refer to point 1) I catch myself. I train myself. I train myself to be strong. I train myself to look at things differently. As long as you are breathing, you can continue to make decision. Pick the one that makes you feel happy. Consiciously decide that everything will be better and it will be better.

There you go, five tips on how to de-stress and be a calmer version of yourself. You have no idea how much more I wanted to share and elaborate. I’ll try my best to write and share about it in future. Sending a big hug to you and thank you for spending your time to read this up.
