Olla everyone!

Have you been to Emerald Pool? If yes, then you might able to relate with what I am about to share today. If you haven't, then.. this entry hopefully might be able to give you more insight about the place. I also take up a video so you can see it by yourself from a “tourist” angle. I travel with to Krabi last year with a group of workmates since it is our yearly company trip.

To be completely honest, this is my first time going to Emerald Pool and was very excited about it. Actually it was not even listed in our itinerary but we decided to swap it instead of taking the town tour. The town tour involve visiting lots of temple by the way.

First off,  emerald pool is not near! We have to chattered a van to go there since it takes around 40 minutes drive from Aonang. We stayed in Centara Anda Dhevi which is located at Ao nang (written a review will link it at the end of this post). A van cost us around RM250 more or less 2500 bath. To us it is acceptable since we are going in a group of more than 10 pax.

As we arrived, I saw like an alley for the entrance and along the alley they selling hawkers snacks to much. I was in the impression that we could buy and bring the food in.. Guess what? I was wrong. haha

Spend quite a chunck of money buying food, bought fish balls and stuff.. End up have to quickly finish eat before going in. Thanks to Ashleigh & Vash for helping me out to finish the snacks. Felt like joining a food competition LOL…Thinking positive, they are putting effort to preserved their beautiful nature pool. which I do respect. BUT putting a signage “NO FOOD ALLOWED” would be greatly appreciated.

Well, that is just the tip of the ice berg my friend… Before we were even allowed to go in, we have to pay an entry fee of 200 bath for each person. At that time (according to the currency rate) it cost around RM20. Since we already travelled so far to reach, might as well just pay it. I was trying to be positive once again, and thinking okay they using it to maintain the place and I bet sure the view would worth every penny spent. I am not trying to be calculative here but 200 bath is a lot of money considering you can get a decent pancake with lots of nuttella and banana for 40bath T.T

The stream just beside the entrance.. The water is amazingly clear and beautiful. Which make me extra excited to check out the Emerald Pool. Once you go in, you got to pick 2 trail for a jungle the first trail is around 1400 meter = 1.4km and the second trail is 800 meter. I hardly exercise and that include moving my gum up and down chewing food LOL

Obviously, I took the second trail. Only Ashleigh, Vash and I took the second trail. The rest took the longer trail. They told me they did enjoy the scenery. As for my trail, I saw lots of plant I never seen before and good to know that they include the name of the plant so it is an informative jungle walk for me Smile

TIPS : Please try to avoid bringing your baby as mosquito is every where. Getting an insect repellent might help. Wear comfortable walking shoes, please avoid wearing high heel. But if you want to so its okay.. I saw some ladies wearing heel during the nature walk. SALUTE!

Nice spot to snap some selfie! Smile We didnt go to visit any real life elephant as I personally against animal cruelty. I saw a documentary before on “behind the scene” on how they trained those elephant. I don't want to support that. Then again it is personal choice. So conclusion, snapping picture of statue is good enough for me.

That is Ashleigh, me and Vash posing and trying to look like a cool tourist LOL This picture is snap by Jake. Thanks Jake!

After walking almost 1km, this is the view we got. A crowded slippery pool. HEART PAIN Anyway, no one is responsible for my disappointment. It was my own mistake, maybe my expectation was too high no thanks to all the pictures I saw online. I should have known that is might have been “touch up” and taken at strategic angle. As you can see, it is also crowded. Then again maybe it is on Saturday. If you go on weekdays then you might enjoy more privacy.

I give credit to the clear beautiful nature pool, if that is what you are looking for then you trip might be more enjoyable than mine. Do take note that is is slippery. The water is actually crystal clear. It look greenish because of the mold and algae underneath the pool. you see on the side the greenish stuff? That is actually mold that grew on the rock. Advisable to take out your shoes and walk bare foot so you able to have more control over your body.

Want more proof? Okay check out this video I took. Pick higher resolution so you able to see it clearer. Personally, it was an “okay” experience, not a MUST go if you are in Krabi. Qouted from Ashleigh, “it is a one time thing”. Then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Maybe you have better experience than mine.
