‘The World’s First Thermomix® Malay Cook Book’

Thermomix Malaysia

Assalamualaikum and Olla everyone!

I am so excited as I am writing this post. I love household gadgets that make life simpler. As predicted I couldn’t really sleep well after attending an event hosted by Thermomix. I have heard about Thermomix before but decided to see what the fuss all about is. All I know is that it is expensive until I went to the event – I found out it will make cooking experience a breeze.

The event unveiled The World’s First Thermomix Malay Cook Book, written by Kak Suriya Abdullah. During the event, Kak Suriya shared a few easy, healthy and inspiring recipes and cooking presentations and that was how I got to know more and seen with my own eyes of the kind of wonders that a Thermomix can do.

Thermomix Malaysia

When I first stepped in the Thermomix® Cooking Studio, I saw many beautiful ladies wearing the Thermomix green apron, standing next to a spread of yummy-looking dessert laid out on the table. Every meal on the table was prepared freshly using Thermomix®. I was like, really???

Thermomix Malaysia

Let’s take a close look of the yummy Ang Ku kuih. :p

Thermomix Malaysia

Another yummy traditional kuih. By now, you might have noticed my “great” knowledge in the names of kuih. I love to eat and to cook but when it comes to the traditional names of the food and ingredients, I have a challenging time recalling the names. Remembered once, I went to a Malay Stall with my workmate. While we were queuing up to pay at the cashier, we saw some kuih on the counter table. My friend asked me if I know the name of the kuih. It made sense for my friend to ask, because I was the only Malay in the group. Being the super confident person I am, I answered “owhh this one, Puteri Berendam”. Then one uncle overheard and corrected me, “Banyak lah kau, itu Badak Berendam!” LOL…..

Even my camera wanted to focus on the Thermomix®. haha.. Yes, this mouth-watering bread is also prepared using Thermomix®. Thanks to the machine, we can now make smooth and supple yeast dough with it. During the cooking demo, Kak Suriya showed us on how we can make dough like an expert using Thermomix® kneading function. All you need is to put the dough ingredients, then press a ‘tare’ button.. Then taaaa daaa, dough is ready. All thanks to the special built-in interval mode, this replicates the action of a master baker kneading the dough. No mess, don’t have to wash so many bowls, you don’t have to spread flour all over your table to knead it, you can even weight ingredients directly as you pour it into the Thermomix®. Hebat or not? How can a person not fall in love with the device T.T

Thermomix Malaysia

Allow me to introduce the family tree of Thermomix®. The red colour blender is basically the Thermomix® ancestor. It started off as a blender in 1961 and throughout the years, it has evolved into such a smart 12-in-1 cooking device which can steam, emulsify, blend, chop, grind, kneading, cook, mill, whip and weigh – something I would want a single appliance to perform all of that! The latest model known as Thermomix® TM5.

Thermomix Malaysia

No surprise that Thermomix® has won so many awards. It has also won my heart. I am secretly hoping my husband would read this blogpost so he can have some ideas on what to get for me next LOL… It is good (sorry.. actually a very smart) choice to get a Thermomix® for the person you love. You see, they will be able to cook soooo many healthy meals for you and your family!

Since the machine is an excellent product, it is widely used worldwide. You will find recipes from chefs, Thermomix® communities and a huge selection of brilliant cookbooks published by Thermomix®. This round, Thermomix® collaborated with Kak Suriya Abdullah to come up with The World First Thermomix® Malay Cook Book. Some might think that Malay cooking associates with complicated ingredients and steps, but you might change your mind after cooking using Thermomix.

Thermomix Malaysia

This is how the long-awaited cook book looks like, with sturdy cover and over 60 recipes to cook authentic Malay food. The cook book is retailing at RM160.00 and is available online at www.Thermomix.com.my

During the cooking demo, Kak Suriya cooked 5 dishes in just less than 2 hours. I know right? 5?? Normally if I go for a cooking show, max would be 3 dishes and it will take hours. Besides the main Malay dishes, Kak Suriya also showed us on how to make steamed man tao, lemonade and sorbet during the cooking demo. Okay, first she cooked rendang chicken nogori style, then she made lemonade, orange sorbet, man tao bun, udang goreng kunyit, nasi kampung, kacang botol sambal, and agar – agar. All completed with no sweat, she can do it with a smile on her face, while teaching us how to use the machine.

You see the lengkuas she was holding there in the picture? Okay normally when I cooked rendang at home, I have to blend all the ingredients and make sure to put in a bit of water so that my blender can function due to some herbs which can be hard to blend because they are chunky and have a firm texture.

Thermomix Malaysia

Kak Suriya, put in the lengkuas, kunyit and the rest of the rendang ingredients inside Thermomix® and then set it on 10 seconds. I am not even kidding. 10 seconds!!!

Thermomix Malaysia

Taaa daaa…She uses chopping function and it was ready in seconds. No water added. Then she moved to the next step to simmer it, and then put in the chicken and other ingredients. By using Thermomix® you can also heat sensitive oil like coconut oil and olive oil without the worry of it getting burnt. Meaning, you can enjoy all the health benefits too! You don’t have to transfer the paste into your cooking pan because that is the cooking pan. You see what I mean by not as many bowl/containers to be wash?

Another function that I like about Thermomix is the precise cooking temperature. Yes, you get to set exactly what is the temperature you need for each step of your cooking. The machine helps you to chop, stir, mix, whip, grind and even steam. Actually I just don’t know lah.. Now, it sounded like I am the sales person. But really, so hebat this machine.

While doing the cooking demo, Kak Suriya asked for a few volunteers to help her out. Not like she needed any help. The machine is already such a good help on itself. Anyhow, I quickly raised my hand. You know just to check it out closer hehehehe.. Made orange sorbet within 1 minute. It took 30 seconds to grind the ice and then another 30 seconds to grind and mix the orange to turn it into sorbet. I think my kids will be very happy if I have this machine at home. We can have healthy fruit sorbet at any time of the day. Imagine, relatives are visiting. You can serve them yummilicious fruit sorbet with no hassle. I will be like “Give me 1 min” then WAaa LAAaa.. I can quickly join the conversation while enjoying good a fruit sorbet together.

Would you leave your pan that is on the stove while frying a prawn.. and be so adventurous by going away to fold your clothes? I will not have the gut to do it. Most likely it will get burnt right? Well, if I have Thermomix® I can do that hahahaha.. Because it will help me to stir and because the lid has a locking system to ensure it is covered and secured, I don’t have to worry about oil spills. Once it is ready it will have play a sound notification to let me know it is ready. I just have to stop folding my clothes and pour out my fried prawns into the plate. My imagination is not bad huh? Haven’t got the Thermomix®, but berangan so far already.

Thermomix Malaysia

Look at that. Quick and fuss free, the prawns are perfectly cooked.

Thermomix Malaysia

Kak Suriya also showed us on how to make agar –agar gula melaka.

Thermomix Malaysia

Also prepared ayam masak merah, a traditional Malaysia dish.

Thermomix Malaysia

Her sambal hijau is very delicious. It is a good idea to serve it as dipping sauce together with chips. Thanks Kak Suriya for the freshly made sambal hijau.

Thermomix Malaysia

Before the event ended, there is a lucky draw session to Win a Thermomix® Private Chef Cook Together session with Kak Suriya worth RM899. Congrats to winner~!

Thermomix Malaysia

We were also served with the meal prepared on that day. I wish I wasn’t that shy so I can tambah hahahaha.. Sedap! The chicken is perfectly cooked, not dry; the meat is tender and juicy which is not very easy to achieve when you cook rendang using conventional method. The veggie is not overcooked meaning it retains all the beneficial nutrients.

That’s it lah. I am going to get one. In the meantime, I will have a special saving and work towards my goal to get one. This wonderful Thermomix® TM5 is costing RM6,488.00 (including 6% GST). How? Want to pengsan or not? I know I also want to pengsan.. haha.. It’s okay since it is going to be a good investment. After all, good technology has its good price.

Thermomix Malaysia

That’s about it for today. I hope you enjoy this post and hopefully find the information beneficial. Ending this post with a group picture of blogger friends that I met at the event and also thanks Jac for the pic. From the left is Qaseh Honey and wearing blue hijab is Mommy Irra. The pink tudung, I tak kenal, dont know who is that.

Alright, till next blogpost. Dont forget to take it easy and smile!
