Skin Whitening Tips (Easy, fun and affordable)

Jan 27, 2015

Olla everyone!

Ever since I remembered everyone one around me is so fascinated of the idea having a fairer skin. To me fair is not really my main goal now days. My current goal is to get flawless healthy skin. Well, if it comes with fairer then it is an extra plus point.

After I gave birth, I noticed that my skin become darker. Like seriously, so last time I went googling to check out what really happening to me. The thing is at that moment, I learn that… Yes, it's common for pregnant women to develop blotchy areas of darkened skin, commonly called the mask of pregnancy (but officially known as chloasma or melasma gravidarum).

Women with darker complexions (like me) are more prone to this condition than women with lighter skin. You're also more likely to develop chloasma if it runs in your family. The effects of chloasma may become more pronounced with each pregnancy.

These changes may be triggered by hormonal changes during pregnancy, which stimulate a temporary increase in your body's production of melanin, the natural substance that gives color to hair, skin, and eyes. Sun exposure plays a role, too. So does skin darkening only affect pregnant ladies? We all havethe answer to that. There are many factors that contribute to changes in skin colour.

Which is why today I would like to share with you my current skin whitening routines hopefully that it will inspire. The skin whitening tips below are totally easy, fun and affordable.

Body SCRUBS - Once a week.

Tips and info :

1) Place “SCRUBbie Galore” or anything you like to call your scrubs session into your calender. That is how I remembered which day that I get to enjoy my scrub session at home.

2) You may switch to use any of your favourite fruits but I picked orange because it have those “feel good fresh” smells that help to lift up my mood. Plus the fresh vitamin C goodness that comes with it.

3) You may also use brown sugar if you have them at home.

4) I like to use salt mixture for foot and sugar mixture for body.

Body Mask – Once every two weeks

Tips and info :

1) Like the above, you may want to input into your calendar as it is easier to miss out the session as you won’t be doing it as frequent and might end up forgetting your much needed pampering session.

2) I used apple cider vinegar mix with flour for my skin whitening mask regime. There are many recopies for body mask out there to suit our diversify skin types. But, if you ask me “What is the best way to detox your skin when you feel like it just looks dull and lacks vitality?” My answer will definitely be apple cider and flour mask.

3) It's really easy to apply. It feels so good, because it's nice. And I would leave this on the skin for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with tepid water, and you're going to be absolutely amazed at how clear, clean and glowing your skin really looks. If you've ever seen one of those commercials where someone will do a before and after on themselves, this is the mask where you should take a before picture and compare it to the way your skin looks after. You're going to be shocked at how great you look.

4) Apple cider vinegar's natural alpha-hydroxy acids and acetic acid will stimulate circulation, as well as minimize pores. Since the pH level of apple cider vinegar is similar to the pH level of the protective acid mantle layer of our skin, this soak will help restore balance.

5) Accidently got it into your hair? No sweat! The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar will remove residue from product build-up and help you get shiny, lustrous locks. How’s that for 2 at one go?

Body Serum Extra Whitening Skin Therapy Serum – Every day (I non-intentionally skipped few days in a week but I am challenging to apply it almost everyday)

Tips and info :

1) This is just awesome. Not only it act like a lotion but it is actually a whitening serum. We all know the amount of goodness jam packed into each tube of serum.

2) This product actually claimed to give 10 times skin whitening effect without thinning out the skin. AMAZING. Because I am not really a fan of bleaching.

3) If you noticed this serum comes with 95% of Vitamin C purity and have broad spectrum of SPF 33 PA+++ which means it helps to not only whiten your skin, it also protects it.

4) The product promised to deliver result within 14 days but as for my personal experience.. I can see the changes within just 10 days. I believe it is because I combined it with the earlier scrubs & mask regimes.

5) Tend to realise that it does not gave me those “sticky feeling” after application because it absorb very quickly into the my skin. . It does not require re-application throughout the day and does not leave stickiness on the skin. Awesome!

6) Worry if it is suitable for your skin? Worry not. Extra Whitening Skin Therapy Serum by Nivea is most suited for any skin types, NIVEA New Extra Whitening Skin Therapy Serum SPF 33 PA+++ is skin compatible and dermatologically approved

7) I also love the price! So pocket-friendly. Like seriously.. RM 19.90 for a good 180ml. You may purchase it at any major store or check out their facebook here for more details or promo.

So that’s it for my tips skin whitening regime and tips. Hope that you found it useful and hopefully that it helps to inspire. Thanks for dropping by and for reading this up. If you have more skin whitening tips or regimes.. do share in the comment below, would love to read it.

P/s: How are you feeling today? Hope everyone is currently in the pink of health. My daughter is currently not well T.T she is having diarrhoea due to antibiotic reaction. Doc said its okay and its normal. She is currently recovering and hopefully able to be smiling and jumping again soon!

Mandi time with PIGEON–Review and Giveaway

Jan 25, 2015

Olla everyone!

I hope you like the simple comic above.. hahaha I had so much fun behind the scene, snapping and editing. Well, today I am going to share with you my opinion over our latest favourite when it comes to my baby sofea “mandi” time. These two products is from PIGEON.

I don't know if you remembered but I do wrote about PIGEON before. It is actually a review of my breast pump. The product is so amazing and which is why I decided to why not try their baby toiletries range as well. Just incase you are curious, click here to read the review about the awesome breast pump.

Let’s cut the chase and get to the point shall we? what makes this toiletries special compared to the rest in the market is because of SAKURA! Yes, we all know that Sakura is the national flower for Japan. But do we know about sakura’s benefit to the skin?

Sakura have amazing properties that does not only smell amazing also beneficial to your baby’s delicate skin. Some of us known sakura by the name of cherry blossom instead. Well, it does not matter what you know it as for as it is actually the same beautiful flower.

The natural Sakura extract used in this new range is made in Japan and is extracted from natural Sakura plants known as the Prunus Yedoensis species.  This popular species is grown in admiration all over Japan and originates from the Hyogo Prefecture, Okayama Prefecture and Shikoku Prefecture.

Benefits of Sakura

  • Improves overall skin condition
  • Combats skin roughness, a symptoms of dry skin
  • Refreshes, keeping baby comfortable all day
  • Moisturizes
  • Has anti-inflammatory properties
  • Proven safe on sensitive skin

As for our personal experiences, Sofea seems to like it. I cant be able to get her exact opinions obviously as she still in the phase of trying to learn how to communicate.. hahaa

I personally love that it comes with pump dispenser. Handling a baby in toilet is hard not as easy as 1,2,3 TRUST ME.. anything can happen at any minute. It is slippery and your baby might move from right to left within seconds. This is why I love pump dispenser. I can just operate it using one hand while my other hand could able to monitor my “active” baby Sofea.

I also like the size it come in. Not tooo big (hard to carry around especially for travelling) not too small (I don't have to go purchase too frequent). It smells amazingly nice and soothing tooo.. Plus knowing that it comes with all the beneficial ingredients for my baby.. it makes me a happy mummy too!

Yes, you are right Sofea! Great thanks to PIGEON we will be hosting a giveaway again. This time around we will be selecting 3 winners and each will get to enjoy the awesome PIGEON goodies worth RM 100 for the first winner and RM 80 for the next 2 winners. How to join? Lazada Haul - Organizer n lots of fun stuff

Jan 19, 2015

Olla everyone!

Since one of my resolution this year is get “more” things organised around me. So I decided to scout on few things that would assist me to achieve my goal. I decided to share it with you, just incase you are also looking for some ideas on what/where you could purchase some organizing products.
Qouted from my favourite organization guru Alenjandra “ It’s about creating a productive lifestyle that results in clarity and order which leads to feelings of calmness and peacefulness. The truth is, if you don’t know how to organize yourself both physically and mentally, you won’t be as productive as you can be.”

Fine, I confess…I am secretly obsessed with organization. In the same way that some people are sports fanatics or comics, I’ve always loved to organize.I love to de-clutter stuff and it gave me such a sense of satisfaction when ever I able to detangled stuff or task. The thing is, it is not an easy task.. to be frank, I am lazy (and tired) sometimes. Plus, I have a baby now! (so HAPPPY).. obviously, it is kinda a struggle to maintain or “control” the situation to make sure your home is organized when you have 3 adult (me, hubby + my bro) and a baby at home.. Then again there is always room for improvement. There is always new products that I could DIY or purchase to help me get more things organised fast and most important of all.. falls in my tiny budget.

I purchase few items that I saw was on sale on Lazada and I am super excited about it! Just the same way I am always excited when trying out new beauty products.. It gaves me the same kind of sensation. LOL  I did a video of my haul, check out below :

my total damage?  RM181 yes seriously banyak barang dapat berbaloi giler Smile with tongue out I hope you get some inspirations on what you can purchase to organizsed stuff around your house. And mayb get a good deal on the photo booth like I did...Not only do Lazada have great deals on their website, but there are also  Lazada vouchers available for discounts on full price products so you never have to pay full price ever! Arigato once again for dropping by and reading this up.

Emerald Pool Thailand, been once and that’s it (11 pictures and 1 video)

Jan 14, 2015

Olla everyone!

Have you been to Emerald Pool? If yes, then you might able to relate with what I am about to share today. If you haven't, then.. this entry hopefully might be able to give you more insight about the place. I also take up a video so you can see it by yourself from a “tourist” angle. I travel with to Krabi last year with a group of workmates since it is our yearly company trip.

To be completely honest, this is my first time going to Emerald Pool and was very excited about it. Actually it was not even listed in our itinerary but we decided to swap it instead of taking the town tour. The town tour involve visiting lots of temple by the way.

First off,  emerald pool is not near! We have to chattered a van to go there since it takes around 40 minutes drive from Aonang. We stayed in Centara Anda Dhevi which is located at Ao nang (written a review will link it at the end of this post). A van cost us around RM250 more or less 2500 bath. To us it is acceptable since we are going in a group of more than 10 pax.

As we arrived, I saw like an alley for the entrance and along the alley they selling hawkers snacks to much. I was in the impression that we could buy and bring the food in.. Guess what? I was wrong. haha

Spend quite a chunck of money buying food, bought fish balls and stuff.. End up have to quickly finish eat before going in. Thanks to Ashleigh & Vash for helping me out to finish the snacks. Felt like joining a food competition LOL…Thinking positive, they are putting effort to preserved their beautiful nature pool. which I do respect. BUT putting a signage “NO FOOD ALLOWED” would be greatly appreciated.

Well, that is just the tip of the ice berg my friend… Before we were even allowed to go in, we have to pay an entry fee of 200 bath for each person. At that time (according to the currency rate) it cost around RM20. Since we already travelled so far to reach, might as well just pay it. I was trying to be positive once again, and thinking okay they using it to maintain the place and I bet sure the view would worth every penny spent. I am not trying to be calculative here but 200 bath is a lot of money considering you can get a decent pancake with lots of nuttella and banana for 40bath T.T

The stream just beside the entrance.. The water is amazingly clear and beautiful. Which make me extra excited to check out the Emerald Pool. Once you go in, you got to pick 2 trail for a jungle the first trail is around 1400 meter = 1.4km and the second trail is 800 meter. I hardly exercise and that include moving my gum up and down chewing food LOL

Obviously, I took the second trail. Only Ashleigh, Vash and I took the second trail. The rest took the longer trail. They told me they did enjoy the scenery. As for my trail, I saw lots of plant I never seen before and good to know that they include the name of the plant so it is an informative jungle walk for me Smile

TIPS : Please try to avoid bringing your baby as mosquito is every where. Getting an insect repellent might help. Wear comfortable walking shoes, please avoid wearing high heel. But if you want to so its okay.. I saw some ladies wearing heel during the nature walk. SALUTE!

Nice spot to snap some selfie! Smile We didnt go to visit any real life elephant as I personally against animal cruelty. I saw a documentary before on “behind the scene” on how they trained those elephant. I don't want to support that. Then again it is personal choice. So conclusion, snapping picture of statue is good enough for me.

That is Ashleigh, me and Vash posing and trying to look like a cool tourist LOL This picture is snap by Jake. Thanks Jake!

After walking almost 1km, this is the view we got. A crowded slippery pool. HEART PAIN Anyway, no one is responsible for my disappointment. It was my own mistake, maybe my expectation was too high no thanks to all the pictures I saw online. I should have known that is might have been “touch up” and taken at strategic angle. As you can see, it is also crowded. Then again maybe it is on Saturday. If you go on weekdays then you might enjoy more privacy.

I give credit to the clear beautiful nature pool, if that is what you are looking for then you trip might be more enjoyable than mine. Do take note that is is slippery. The water is actually crystal clear. It look greenish because of the mold and algae underneath the pool. you see on the side the greenish stuff? That is actually mold that grew on the rock. Advisable to take out your shoes and walk bare foot so you able to have more control over your body.

Want more proof? Okay check out this video I took. Pick higher resolution so you able to see it clearer. Personally, it was an “okay” experience, not a MUST go if you are in Krabi. Qouted from Ashleigh, “it is a one time thing”. Then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Maybe you have better experience than mine.

The greatest part about this trip is our lunch hahahahaha.. TOM YAM and fresh COCONUT drink… how to compete laaaa Smile with tongue out  Well, thank you for spending time to read my 2 cent worth of opinion. I honestly hope that you find this some  how helpful. Arigato!

Set Berpantang Afiat Review

Jan 11, 2015

set afiat review

Assalamualaikum semua,
Seperti dijanjikan harini illy nak citer skit pasal pengalaman guna set berpantang afiat. Illy beli ni masa tengah mengandung dulu beli online difrect dengan website afiat terus. Tak sampai seminggu lepas bayar terus barang sampai.

2014-05-16 19.49.02

Anyway, since harini nak citer pasal afiat, ni la rupa nya lepas buka kotak tu. berbaloi tak? RM89.90 jer tau dapat semua ni. antara banyak2 ni yang illy tak pakai adalah bengkung herba dan air akar kayu tu.. tak sempat sebab ada beli set lain juga so mix pakai ( first time mummy, excited lebih semua nak yang terbaik lah katakan) anyway kalau anak second illy rasa ambik set afiat jer lepas ni tak payah membazir sebab barang semua complete and best part digunakan sejak dari zaman mak2 kite dulu and lebih pada perubatan traditional. Then again, ikut korang la kan.. ikut kesesuaian hati masing2..

2014-05-16 19.49.20

Antara barang2 yang illy nak higlight ni feminine hygine wash ni. Bau punya la wangi and rasa kering and bersih jer bila pakai.. Banyak pulak tu 60 ml dia bagi. Orait sangat illy sampai habis pantang pun ada lagi benda ni.. cuma tertanya jugak la kan.. nanti kalau da habis tak sure dorang ada jual asing2 tak menda ni jer. Tengok kat kertas tu dia tulis pembersih ni harga rm7.50 tapi kat website takda pulak jual satu2 nanti kalau da nak habis kena cari juga la kat kedai jamu kalau ada jual asing.. sbeba memang sesuai illy suka bau dia.

2014-05-16 19.49.28

Not every set bersalin siap bagi mandian untuk ibu tau.. set afiat ni siat bagi in gel version lagi, senang nak pakai. illy masa tu suka pakai yang ni sebab memang bau serai wangi sesuai la dalam mood pantang tu kan.. pastu bila dalam bentuk gel letak skit kat sponge bole jadi foamy. Bau dia memang intense so letak sikit jer memang wangi jer badan.

2014-06-04 13.09.38

Next jamu ni, masa buka botol punya seram tengok banyak nyer biji2 nak kena telan.. risau… tapi kan bila rajin makan kejap jer tak perasan pun yang [penting displin la.. anak illy tak kena kuning masa tu alhamdulilah.. ily bersyukur sangat, dengan citer kalau anak kuning elak makan jamu dulu.. illy makan lepas seminggu berpantang.. tunggu duklu tengok keadaan anak.. dia okay, so illy pun start makan,, tapi memang rasa beza la lepas makan.. rasa bertenaga pastu rasa macam luka pun cepat sembuh ( or the physco ke hahaha?) tapi tu la rasa banyak kebaikan makan.. badan kan satu jer jadi nak tak nak kenalah jaga.. ily kuatkan semangat and telan juga.. lagi rela telan jamu dari minum sebab kalau minum tu lagi lama rasa pahit kan.. telan ni kejap jer pastu tak rasa dah

I bet most of you tau bau signature dia kan? Illy banyak pakai minyak ni masa dalam pantang.. campur dengan minyak2 yg dari set bersalin tanamera.. yer la asyik bau sama jer nak tukar2 jugak kan? illy suka minyak afiat ni bila duk lepak2 masa baby tido tu illy letak kat perut dia (sebab minya ni bagus untuk redakan kembung baby) pastu illy sapu2 kat badan illy sendiri sebab minya ni bagus untuk redakan lenguh and buang angin dari badan.

tak yah risau sebab walaupun bayka herba dan akar kayu dalam minyak ni tapi dia tak berangin so takde la rasa pedih panas ke apa.. rasa macam letak  minyak essential oil jer.. bau pun best benefit pun banyak dalam set ni kalau beli dia bagi sebotol gedabak besar terus memang sampai habis pantang pun ada balance lagi. mana tak nye dia bagi 250ml terus.

2014-05-16 19.48.57

nak tahu more on cara pengunaan dan barang lain yg ada dalam set ni bole tengok list kat atas ni.. ni macam manual la lebih kurang. Kalau beli set afiat ni memang ada dalam box tu untuk baca. Illy tak pakai tali pembentan afiat tu sebab rasa macam takde reason nak pakai tapi terpulang la hak individu. Korang pakai ke?

So itu jer la nak share kali ni, hopefully this post dapat bantu korang la yang tengah terpikir2 nak set bersalin mana tu kan? illy pakai tanamera and set afiat masa tu.. so illy share yg illy try jer la yang lain tak cuba so tak tahu la okay ker tidak. As conclusion, set afiat ni memang berbaloi dari segi banyak barang dia bagi dan plus point bagi ibu2 yang prefer cara traditional untuk healing process.
Nak baca lebih lagi?  nah, ni yang tulis dulu2..

Our “year end” mini vacation of 2014

Jan 7, 2015

2014-12-21 12.20.34

Olla everyone!

Hope everything is going great at y our end and the first week of new year have been a blast for you and your family. How do you celebrate your new year? I remembered last time when I was younger… I used to feel very excited when ever new year come. I love to watch the fireworks and I think it is one of the most beautiful thing. Now that I am slightly “ancient” it does not excite it as much anymore. To be frank I am kinda scared that my daughter would end up crying everytime the fire work sparks. Yes, we are staying on the 20th floor and very near to Ikano.. So, I am nervous T.T

Good thing is, my daughter did not affected much by the sounds of the fireworks. FUHhhhh.. Thank God she inherited the I-dont-hear-a-thing-when-I-sleep genes.. Weehoo!!

Anyway, I was on leave from my full time work from 22 Dec up till new year because I need to clear off my leave. So grateful that my dad is kind enough to “belanja” our little family to spend 3D2N at Swiss Garden Residences in Kuala Lumpur. Basically, on 21 Dec we planned to go for my blogger friend wedding. We went to check in right after the wedding.

2014-12-21 12.21.08

You see sofea? thats what happen behind the scene everytime! She likes to pull my tudung.

2014-12-21 12.21.52

She also likes to hug anything infront of her.. n yes, even the head rest. She even tried to bite off the car seat and her lil hand is caught red handed. busted!

2014-12-21 12.22.07

My sis  Faten is on leave at that time, and she did not follow my father for his trip to Sarawak. She sleep over at our place on that day and we spend a day lepaking such. Thank you so much tolong tengok2 kan sofea Smile  hugs!

2014-12-21 12.47.33

Decided to wear matching outfit. Johan trying to look like Hang Tuah with his red baju melayu and long hair, mummy wore red embroidery blouse with matching red silk scraft and my fluffy long skirt in cream , while sofea wore her cream  dress with some red polkadots. Picture snap by my sis Faten Smile

P/s: sebelum kena membebel dgn geng2 hardcore baby wearing.. yes, my hubby pasang foward facing for sofea sebab nak tangkap gambar kejap. We hardly use forward facing.. As we tend to feel more comfortable with inwards facing.

Anyway congrats to Sabby and hubby for your wedding! Semoga berbahagia hingga akhir nyawa. Terima kasih sudi jemput kami. To blogger friends yang jumpa aritu, so happy jumpa korang!! expecially sabrina tajuddin.. you are one of the first blogger friends I had and glad to meet you up again.. sorry tak sempat nak borak lama.. sakan bergambar pastu melayan anak.. next time borak lagi k? Smile  Illy pun happy juga jumpa ayna and glad to see her with preggo mamma glow.. cantik!!

Basically, after the wedding kitorang directly went to check in. The process of check in took longer than what we normally encountered with other hotels. Then again, maybe because it is school holiday so it is a peak period. The room is HUGE, I mean for such a central location I am expecting for just a sweet small room. Good to see that the room is huge and it also come with a deluxe size of refrigerator instead of the mini fridge. Why it is a big deal for me? Because I try my very best to ensure that Sofea consume the food that I prepared for her. Felt relieved when I saw the fridge Smile with tongue out  So excited, forgot to snap picture of the whole place before we messed it up.. hahaha..

That is my sis Faten with Sofea. Luckily we enjoy the pool on the first day because it was raining for the next 2 days. Pheww… talk about right timing.. Sofea had a great fun swimming and mummy had a great time munching on tid bits.
Cant really recall what I ordered. I think some nachos and orange juice. The NACHOS is actually quite yummy and full-filling. Look at the dressing there. Great amount of chopped tomatoes and generous scoop of cheesy dippings. The milk bottle on the left corner is for Sofea.. obviously hahaha

Swimming time! :)

A video posted by @illyariffin on

This is one of my favourite video of Sofea! She is happily swimming thanks to the neck float. If you are wondering, I got the neck float from lazada cost me around rm20 plus.. cant really recall the exact amount but it is very worth it in my opinion.

My sister left that night. So it is only Johan, sofea and me. We just laze around and relax. Watch some movies and go to sleep early. The next morning we went down to enjoy our breakfast buffet! I dont know about you.. but for my hubby and I have the same opinion.. we tend to to treat buffet breakfast as the best part about staying in a hotel.. yum yum!

Sofea get to taste papaya for the first time in her life. From the look on her face, I think she is loving it. hahaha.. jangan nak khusyuk sangat makan tu.

Dont be fool by this picture. Nampak macam ambik sikit2.. Johan and I take turn to indulge and trust me we eaten kaw2 which we were full up till evening.. hahaha dah ada kan? tak baik membazir yer tak? ada selera makan jer la kannn

On the second day, we basically laze around again. Take it like a hibernation mode. We did nothing but lepak eat n sleep. Towards late in the evening, my sis come back to visit us and we decided to have dinner in Bukit Bintang. Wait actually my brother did come and drop by as well.. he was in the mist of his finals and all that so basically he is buzy but kind enough to pay us a visit. hugs!
