EXCLUSIVE HARI RAYA CELEBRATION FOR 100 ORPHANAGE CHILDREN
Guardian Malaysia continues festive goodwill by keeping traditions alive!
In celebration of Syawal, leading pharmacy, health and beauty retailer Guardian Malaysia held an exclusive Aidilfitri celebration for 100 children from three orphanages across the Klang Valley. The delightful evening of fun, festivity and food saw the children light up in smiles, while various activities in the progamme helped them revisit some age-old traditions of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
The children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Perlindungan Nur Qaseh Malaysia, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Al-Nasuha, and Pusat Jagaan Baitus Sakinah Wal Mahabbah enjoyed a festive fare of sayur lodeh, rendang, serunding, lemang, ketupat, and traditional desserts such as dodol and wajik.
The evening was further accentuated with festive entertainment and antics by celebrities that included singer and actor Sean Ghazi, host Nazrudin Rahman, actor and singer Aiman Hakim Ridza, former radio announcers JD and Dilly, as well as former 3R TV hosts – scriptwriter Rafidah Abdullah and Director of iM4U FM Kartini Kamalul Ariffin.
Marketing Director of Guardian Health and Beauty Sdn Bhd, Christina Low said, “For many Malaysians, when it comes to festive seasons, the first thing that comes to mind is balik kampung! I learnt from my Muslim friends and colleagues that traveling back to one’s kampung, is special in many ways. Apart from spending time with our elders, they also get to observe traditional practices, many of which are special to each kampung. When you spend festive seasons here in the city too often, it is very easy to forget these traditions,”
“With that in mind, we at Guardian Malaysia made a commitment this year to help you keep traditions alive with today’s line-up of activities. From the traditional Hari Raya fare to ketupat weaving, we hope these will go a long way in making the festive season an extra warm and exciting one for the children,” added Christina.
Guardian Malaysia also presented each home with RM10,000 in Guardian vouchers, which can be used to redeem essential items such as toiletries, personal care and hygiene products, pharmaceutical items as well as medical aid for the children.
As part of the programme, the children were also treated to learning the traditional art of ketupat weaving. Many enjoyed having their caricature drawn by an artist, took wefies at the event photo wall, as well as redeemed free movie tickets sponsored by MCT Berhad.
At the Grand Ballroom foyer where the event was held, guests were invited to dedicate Raya wishes to the children. Many penned motivational messages aimed at inspiring them. Aidilfitri Bersama Guardian is part of Guardian Malaysia’s long-standing Corporate Social Responsibility efforts to give back to the communities they conduct business in.
