Protect your Intellectual Property with MyIPO

Assalamualaikum and Olla everyone!

Came up with an idea or product and thinking how you can protect it under the law? Well, I got something very interesting to share with you today. Have you heard about MyIPO before? MyIPO is actually Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia. Where they are the responsible statutory body that took care of the development and management of intellectual properties. If you are wondering MyIPO is one of the goverment agency under KPDNKK.

Being a part time blogger, I think this is very relatable to me as I have a domain name that I think best to protect. Not just that you may also protect the picture you took, your business name, or domain name, your business name, your product name, the music you created, an idea, your company logo even to your product. There are many branches of Intellectual properties that you can protect. Just Basically it is very broad spectrum and best part of all it can be protected under the law.

Do you know how to pronouce MyIPO correctly? /maipo/ yes it is very simple.

As you can see above, I listed 5 types of Intellectual Property System. If you have no idea on where to start you can easily got to MyIPO website and they have a section where you can answer couple of simple question to lead you to which system isthe best to protect your intellectual properties.

Here are the vision and the Mission of MyIPO. It is a relieve to know that your creativity is taken seriously and will be protected under the law. I mean it is always nice to have an assurance.

Here are the historical timeline of how it all started. Way before 1983, Intellectual Property Right (also known as IPR) were taken care off under Pejabat Cap Daganan dan Jamin Hak, you can read further in the timeline that I have created here. It is good to see that there is on going effort for a continous improvement to protect intellectual properties. Expecially in this high pace world, where everyone is creating and came up with wonderful ideas from time to time.

We all know how hard it is to squeeze our brain to come up with an idea. Best is to protect your intelectual property! You will be suprise of the cost needed is very affordable. Just to give a hint certain form cost from only RM25. Plus the process is not as complicated as it sounded too! Justr to give an example for Trade mark registration is valid for ten years from the date of application and may be renewed every ten years. Maybe I’ll share about it on another post. Very soon.
