Urban Retreat Spa is just AWESOME!
Olla everyone!
I bet it is common knowledge that stress can cause
lots of harm to our mind and eventually our body. Everyone handle stress
differently and some get more stress than others given in the same situation. It
is how you and your body react to a situation. Not all stress is bad, stress can
also be a positive motivator when striving for a promotion or accomplishing an
important task. Stress may be temporary, such as being stuck in traffic or
someone took your parking. haha
However, stress may also be chronic especially
during financial difficulties, chronic illness or dealing with family issues. It
is not necessarily the event, but rather your body's response to the event that
causes stress. When the brain senses any kind of stress, your heart rate and
blood pressure rise, and your muscles tighten. Feelings of stress that continue
for long periods have a detrimental effect on the body. Which is why it is very
important for everyone to handle their stress wisely.
As for me, I bet almost everyone close to me know
how much I love massage session. Although, honestly… I do understand that
massage therapy may be more expensive than a walk in the park or a bar of dark
chocolate or a nice yummy ice cream (don’t worry, everyone eats the whole thing
sometimes), it’s possible the psychological benefits of massage therapy may far
outweigh its price tag. Massage helps you relax, calming the mind and body and
relieving your stress.
Anyway, today I would like to share with you about
my experience at Urban Retreat Spa. This beautiful spa is located at The Curve.
To be frank, I am actually one of their constant visitors. I used to come before
for my pre-natal massage (Award winning by Bazaar for the best Pre-natal
Massage) and I also have a package there. But this is the first time I am doing
a review in my blog. P/s : Their coffee scrub is also a must
try.
This time around, I went to try out their
Hot Oil Aromatherapy Massage for 90 minutes of relaxing
treatment. You can actually pick if you want 60 minutes, 90 minutes or 120
minutes. The price start from RM97 and for my treatment it cost RM 149. (Stay
tune as I will be giving away ONE treatment to one of my Lucky
reader at the end of this post.)
If you are wondering, what is Aromatherapy Massage?
Aromatherapy massage is massage therapy but with
highly concentrated plant oils, called essential oils , added to the massage oil or
lotion. For aromatherapy massage, you can first pick the essential
massage oil that you preferred. Of all the massage session I went, it is common
for me to automatically pick ginger lemongrass or lavender. This time around I
decided to go for Orange.
It is actually my first time having orange
essential oil for my hot oil aromatherapy massage. Do you know that orange have
so many wonderful benefits for your body? The very smell of orange essential oil
reminds you of happy moments and brings pleasant thoughts to mind. That is why
this oil is so frequently used in aromatherapy. It creates a happy, relaxed
feeling and works as a mood lifter, perfect for people who suffer from
depression or chronic anxiety.
Orange is also act as a tonic. The relation of a
tonic to the body is quite similar to overhauling and servicing a vehicle.
(sounding a lil bit technical here.. haha.. but good info are worth to be shared
) A tonic tones up every system that functions throughout the body, keeps the
metabolic system in proper shape, contributes to strength, and boosts
immunity.
After I have picked my essential massage oil, I
was then lead to this foot bath area. Where my therapist help to give my foot a
nice warm foot bath and a gentle massage to encourage my blood flow before the
actual massage begin.
Then, I am lead to the therapy room. I like how
spacious the room is. As I walk in, I can automatically smell the nice relaxing
lemongrass. I felt so relax already. Like all the other aromatherapy session,
you need to change your attire to your “birth suite” and by that I mean naked.
Dont worry as the staff is female and they are very professional. You need to
wear the disposable panties and the head cover and that's it. You don't really
have to bare it all because they will cover your body with towel during the
session.
I really do enjoy my session and the massage was
pure bliss. It makes me relax and felt calm. It is like a mental detox session
for me. I also like their press and strokes technique because it does helps to
loosen up my tight muscles. As for their staff, I am very
happy that every time I visit they were always so welcoming and helpful and made
you feel immediately comfortable.
Once the session ended, I am served with this
yummy and nice smelling ginger tea. Leaving the place with less burden on my
shoulder. Well, this is the fun part! As promised in this post earlier, I will
be giving away ONE (1) Aromatherapy 90 minutes worth RM149 to my reader. So, you
could be able to enjoy the magical experience for your self tooo!
